Chic Style Evolution: Dawn “Dirty Money” Richards

Coco beauty Dawn Richards didn’t let reality show drama hold down her evolution; she is a trendsetter. We were introduced to the New Orleans native via MTV’s Making The Band in 2005olddawn through the group Danity Kane. Dawn had the look of an awkward teenager thrusted into the spotlight without personal style.

The damaged blonde hair, noise ring and neighborhood mall clothing truly wasn’t the business.

Fast-forward to the second album and you can see Dawn breaking from the cookie cutter look of most girl groups.  She repaired her damaged tresses, went for a pulled together edgier look, bold accents with nails and accessories; her style was spot on to the trends of now. dawnthumb

Now Ms. Dirty Money is simply HAUTE. On the season finale for MTB, Dawn debuted a hot short cut, a trendy denim look and the must have accessories of the season.  She looked complete, confident and fashion forward; I AM in love.

From her to die for shoe selections, hipster fashion sense, and sheer confidence

  1. Ramoan Barkley says:

I’m glad that you found something positive to say about her! For me, she looks like a clone of Estelle and Rihanna, while trying to sing like Brandy! Dawn Please!!! Go sit down!!!

  2. Shaer says:

I completely disagree with you Barkley…watching her on Making the band gives you an in depth insight to Dawn as a person…forget the fact that she’s a singer, and forget what she looks like(though, for heavens’ sake, I don’t see anything estelle or rihanna-ish about her..) she did something that most celebs don’t do…she showed her true nature. While most stars are just voices and looks, Dawn has a personality that we were introduced to, and I, for one, dug it. We didn’t see her all glitz, glam, and “Lights camera action.” We saw her at her worst, and now we see her at the best. There are tons of positive things to say about her. So do forgive me for contradicting you, but with intent of greatly conflicting with your last line.. “Dawn please…stand up!!!”
